Notifications not working
- Go to Settings โ Pinping โ Notifications
- Make sure "Allow Notifications" is on
- Go to Settings โ Pinping โ Location
- Set to "Always"
- Check the pin is active in the app
Adding a pin
- Open Pinping and go to the map
- Long-press on the location you want
- Add a note and choose an emoji
- Set the notification radius
- Tap Save
Deleting a pin
- Open the pin list
- Swipe left on the pin you want to remove
- Tap "Delete"
- Or open the pin and tap the delete button
Battery usage
- Pinping uses iOS geofencing โ very low power
- GPS is not constantly active
- If you're concerned, reduce the number of active pins
- Pause pins you don't currently need
Pins disappearing
- iOS allows max 20 active geofences
- Excess pins are automatically paused
- Pause unused pins to free up space
- Reinstalling the app deletes all local data
Forgot password
- On the login screen, tap "Forgot password?"
- Enter your email address
- Check your inbox for a reset link
- Set a new password and log in
Frequently Asked Questions
Why isn't my notification arriving?
The most common reason is that location permission isn't set to "Always". Go to Settings โ Pinping โ Location and select "Always". Also make sure the pin is active and notifications are enabled.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Geofencing works without internet. Notifications are triggered at the iOS level and don't require a network connection. You only need internet to log in and to display the map.
Why does it need "Always" location?
Without "Always" permission, iOS can't monitor geofences while the app is closed. Notifications would only fire when Pinping is open โ defeating the whole purpose.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account from the Profile screen in the app. All your data (pins, profile, Firebase account) will be permanently removed. Alternatively, email support@pinping.app.
Is my location data safe?
Yes. Your location data and pins are stored only on your device and are never sent to any server. We do not track where you go. The only data we hold is your email address via Firebase.
